The 2024 WSOP Event 77: $2,500 Mixed Big Bet (6 Handed) is a mix of 7 poker variety games, with each game having pot-limit or no-limit betting, ensuring the pots played would be very sizable and the swings would be particularly wild. Some say this is not for the faint of heart however it did not deter 468 entrants to create a $1,041,300 prize pool. After two days of play, Hong Kong’s Wing Po Liu emerged victorious to lift his career second WSOP gold bracelet and the $209,942 champion’s purse. The win sent Liu past the million marker in live tournament earnings.

Liu has been running well at the WSOP since his first visit last year where he placed 3rd at the $3,000 NLH 6-Handed. Later that year, he collected his first bracelet at the WSOP Europe in the $5,000 PLO for $246,797.

Briefly recapping Liu’s latest gold, he carried a commanding chip lead into the final table and proceeded to eliminate the highly decorated Alex Foxen in 6th place. Recent bracelet winner Xixiang Luo from China locked up his sixth cash with 3rd place finish. After five hours of final table play, Liu defeated Hye Park at heads up in a game of Pot Limit Omaha.

Other Asia Pacific players reaching the money round were Xiacochuan Zhang (24th), Yingui Li (25th), two time WSOP bracelet winner Kahle Burns (28th), Gan Jiang (32nd) Sho Mori (40th), WSOP Bracelet winner Qiang Xu (45th), and Masaki Nakamura  (68).
